"Buff" is the common Indian word for water buffalo meat. Dried into jerky, it makes a rich, chewy treat that many fussy dogs love, and a useful option when chicken does not agree with your dog.
What is buff jerky?
Water buffalo meat, sliced and dried slowly at low heat with nothing added. Our pouch lists one ingredient: "100% Real Water Buffalo Meat."
Why dog parents choose it
- A different protein. If your dog seems to react to chicken (itching, ear scratching, loose stools), switching to another single protein like buffalo is a simple way to see if things settle. It is not a cure for allergies; talk to your vet if symptoms continue.
- Rich flavour. Red meat has a deeper taste and smell than chicken, which makes buff jerky a strong reward for picky eaters.
- Red-meat nutrients. Buffalo meat naturally contains protein, iron and zinc.
- Single ingredient. One protein, so it is easy to tell what agrees with your dog.
Buff jerky vs chicken jerky
Chicken jerky is thinner and snaps more easily, so it is our first pick for quick training rewards. Buff jerky is firmer and richer, so it suits dogs that need a more exciting reward, or that do better without chicken. Many owners keep both. Read more in Buffalo vs Chicken Jerky.
