Puppy treats
Puppy treats: soft, small and simple.
Puppies need small rewards, lots of them, for house training and their first commands. These treats break into tiny pieces by hand and have one ingredient each, so they’re easy to introduce one at a time.
Start once your puppy is eating solid food, give one new treat at a time, and keep portions small. Skip bones and hard chews until your puppy is older.
When can puppies start eating treats?
Once they are eating solid food. Start with a tiny piece of one treat and see how your puppy does before trying another. Ask your vet if your puppy is very young or has a sensitive tummy.
Which treats should puppies avoid?
Hard chews and anything with bone, such as Goat Trotter, Chicken Bones, Chicken Neck or Whole Quail.
How many treats can a puppy have?
Keep pieces tiny and count them as part of the day’s food: all treats together should stay under about 10% of what your puppy eats.
What can help a teething puppy?
Teething puppies want to chew. Soft treats are fine, but keep hard chews for later. Our puppy teething guide has more ideas.
